GSML/ inSight is a thesis project headed by third year MFA candidate Richard Emms. I joined the team at the beginning of my first semester as an Interactive Media grad student at USC. My role in the project is mainly the user experience research design and system prototyping.
GSML is a visual language for describing game systems. It uses a vocabulary of nodes and connections to visually map out game elements, play flow and consequences, system complexity, and design patterns.
This research is to develop GSML structure, and further understand game designer's design experience. Also how designers would practically apply their discoveries from GSML to their design.
